- Abstract
- Ethan Britt was born in 2003 on January 21th, in Birmingham, Alabama but now lives in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He lives in a very politically active town and has had many experiences with the BLM movement. He attends Sewanee: University of the South and he is a Biology major. He is also a wide receiver for the Football team and recorded his first touchdown this season. His job over the summer is an intern for the football strength and conditioning program at UNC Chapel Hill. He discusses his community’s reaction to the BLM movement and the George Floyd killing. His highschool organized a walkout for the movement and during the walkout students spoke at a podium and talked about how it had affected them. Britt felt a lot of social pressure from his fellow classmates to be active during the covid period, he also describes a graphic mural in downtown Chapel Hill that depicted the Floyd killing. He participated on social media and his family put yard signs out front of their house. He believes that the Black Lives Matter movement will become more prevalent the closer it is to election time because it is such a political organization. He also believes that over time something else will take over the Black Lives Matter movement and replace it. This is a part of the Black Lives Matter Oral History Program to document BLM in America.
