This interview starts by me and Nolan getting to know each other a little bit better. I start off by asking him where he was from and about his childhood. He tells me about his time growing up in Brentwood, TN and about all the things he used to do for fun. Nolan then begins to talk about a trip that he took to the Bahamas with his family. We talk about the cultures that he was able to pick up from his trip to another country and how this was important to him. Following this we moved on to discussing how Nolan receives his news and what his thoughts are on social media. I then used this conversation to move into discussing the Black Lives Matter movement with Nolan. Nolan talks about how his first exposure to the movement was on social media and then he did more research. He states that the Black Lives Matter movement did not impact his community very much but that he could see an impact on social media. He also talks about how the movement was successful in some ways but he believes that it was a failure in others. We end the interview by talking about where he sees the Black Lives Matter movement heading to in the future. This interview is part of the Sewanee Black Lives Matter Oral History Project.
